Description
Talybont Reservoir has two bird hides, car parking, and a nice cafe in the village. Shallow water, marshland and exposed mud at the top end attract dabbling ducks, waders especially Šumska šljuka, Barska šljuka, Mala šljuka, Siva čaplja, Mala bela čaplja and Barski petlovan in autumn and winter. The woods have Crnovrata muharica, Mišar, Šumska sova, Brgljez, Kratkokljuni puzić and Leganj. In the surrounding streams look for Potočna pliska, Vodenkos and Crnoglava travarka. And on the moors may be Velika carska šljuka, Zlatni vivak, Red Grouse, Gavran, Livadska trepteljka and Obična beloguza . The nearby canal has Vodomar.

Access
Between Brecon and Abergavenny. Take the B4558 and turn south in Talybont village. A regular bus service runs through the village, from which it's a 2 mile walk to the reservoir. The circular route up to Tor y Foel is 5 km, with 250 metres of ascent. Stout boots, a hiking pole, snacks, a drink and waterproof clothing are recommended.
