Description

Vardzia is a 12th‑century cave monastery complex. The site combines a great site with historical significance with birdwatching. Повзик скельний are numerous and a walk through the many rooms hacked into the stone face of the valley will result in hearing Щедрик королівський and Скеляр синій. During Spring and Summer months, Серпокрилець білочеревий can be seen high above the valley. There are many nests of Ластівка скельна and Ластівка міська along the rock faces and Кеклик кремовогорлий can be heard in the surroundings. During the winter months, Стінолаз can be found on the cliff walls. Пронурок біловолий are common along the Kura river.

There is some debate on the occurrence of повзик великий in this area, so be the first to definitively prove its occurrence! A small lake (1) along the road to Vardzia is good for migrants during Spring migration with Очеретянка індійська, Очеретянка тонкодзьоба and many Бугайчик.
