The Herrenwald is a large forest covering approximately 2,852 hectares. This area of the forest south of Stadtallendorf is nice for hiking, cycling and of course birding. Birds you can observe include Повзик звичайний, Золотомушка жовточуба, Крук звичайний, Синиця чубата, Ополовник звичайний, або синиця довгохвоста, Сойка звичайна, Дятел звичайний, Зелений дятел and Жовна чорна.

Access
The Herrenwald is located between Stadtallendorf in the west, Neustadt in the northeast and Kirtorf in the southeast. Easiest access to this part of the forest is given directly next to the A49 Autobahn exit Stadtallendorf-Süd. Press P on the map for directions. The circular walking route shown on the map is about 8 km.
