Description
The Longarini lagoon is a wetland area of about 200 hectares located in the territory of Ispica, a few hundred meters from the coast. It is the largest of a complex of marshes that extend between Ispica and Pachino. The lagoon attracts a wide array of species throughout the year. In winter one can see Фламінго, several species of ducks, Лиска звичайна, Чайка чубата, different species of herons, Лунь очеретяний, Рибалочка блакитний, Ремез звичайний and more. During migration, the area attracts several typical wetland species, including waders such as Коловодник великий and Ходулoчник, as well as migratory ducks like Чирянка велика and Чернь білоока. The site is one of the last places where Чирянка вузькодзьоба breeds in Italy. Re-introduced Султанка can also be seen.

The lagoon is located 5 km west of the village of Pachino. The site is easily accessible by any means of transport.
