Description
Secà de Bellmunt is a good place to look for steppe birds. The landscape is dominated by dry cereal crops, fallows and small scrublands with some holly oaks. The most iconic steppe species are Хохітва, Зозуля чубата, Лунь лучний, Сиворакша євразійська, and Жайворонок степовий. Other interesting resident species are Посмітюха короткопала, сорокопуд південний, жовна іберійська , Сич хатній and Лежень.
During the breeding season some noteworthy species are Стерв’ятник білий, Підсоколик великий, Боривітер степовий, Вівчарик світлочеревий, and Кропив'янка червоновола. In winter, Лунь польовий and Підсоколик малий can be present in the area.
The Urgell channel is a very good place to look for passerine migrants, and in the breeding season several species like Галка звичайна, Бджолоїдка звичайна, Ластівка берегова or Горобець скельний breed in the walls.

Access
Secà de Bellmunt is located 40 km northeast of Lleida. Press P on the map for directions. The site can be visited by walking or by car. Walking is the best way to look for some species detected by sound. Visiting the site by car allows to explore a greater area. The route shown on the map is about 10 km one way.
The place can get very hot in summer, so it is best to go birding in the early morning. In winter it can be foggy.
