Description
Resident and passage waders, especially at Haven and at Longhoughton Steel, 1.5 km north. Large Сивка звичайна flocks in winter, with records of Сивка американська and Сивка бурокрила. Passage Кульон середній and Побережник червоногрудий. Winter Побережник морський. The tidal foreshore is unusual in that there are sheltered areas of shallow water protected from waves by reefs at almost all states of the tide, making it an important feeding location for the Крячок малийs that breed at the nearby Long Nanny (q.v.) and other terns.
Гагара червоношия and Гагара полярна, and occasionally Гагара чорношия, can be seen offshore in winter, and Гагара білодзьоба has been recorded.
Vagrant passerines on foreshore and at Seaton Point, 1.5 km south in 2020-22 included Синьошийка, Берестянка звичайна and Кам’янка пустельна. Пуночка снігова regular in winter. Сорокопуд терновий and Сірий (Великий) сорокопуд have both occurred on passage.
