Description
This area though small is beside the narrowest part of the lower River Tamar, on incoming/outgoing tide the river is extremely fast here. There is a free car park (see extra info below) and grassy slopes with small trees and shrubs. The area has old gun emplacements and is quite open, having two shelters on it's southern slopes that are good for sheltering from the wind. This area is good for checking out the North Western part of Plymouth Sound near Drake's Island off shore that is an area favoured by Divers/Grebes/Terns. For resting Terns check the line of buoys (called 'Trots' here) near Drake's Island during summer months.

Access
The area can be approached from Plymouth City Centre along Union Street and turning into Durnford Street at Stonehouse Roundabout, (BE AWARE that this street eventually becomes a one way system), look for signs to Devils Point which is due South. On seeing the sea turn sharp right to car park. There are footpaths throughout both east and west of here and it has a rocky shoreline.
