Great Cumbrae Island is a good place to see Сула атлантична which nest on nearby Ailsa Craig. Also auks, terns, skuas, sea ducks especially Морянка, shearwaters and Буревісник кочівний. Waders including Кулик-сорока, Кульон великий, Крем’яшник звичайний, Побережник морський best viewed at the north end. Warblers including Кобилочка-цвіркун nest in abundance.

10 minute car or pedestrian ferry from Largs, which is 27 miles west of Glasgow via A760. Train or bus available in Largs. Drive, cycle or walk around the island's coast. Boat trips also available. A circular walk of the island is 16 km/10 miles.
