Description
The Mendip Hills are an excellent hiking and cycling area with several convenient car parks. Less common birds include Кропив’янка прованська on Crook Peak and Black Down; Сова вухата and Дрімлюга звичайний on Stock Hill. Raptors include Сапсан, Боривітер звичайний, Канюк звичайний and Шуліка рудий. There are greater and lesser horseshoe bats, and great crested newts in the quarry pools.

Marked on the map is an 8 km out-and-back trail to Crook Peak and an 11 km circular trail going through Compton Wood, Hazel Park, Black Moor Reserve and Cheddar Gorge.
