Oxwich has a mosaic of different habitats including dune slacks and limestone cliffs. The relatively small area of the reserve encompasses a variety of different habitats which include a calcium-rich dune system with dune slacks and saltmarsh, freshwater lakes and marshes and adjacent wooded areas on limestone slopes. This variety supports a rich variety of wildlife. Orchids on the grassland, beachcomber beetles, dragonflies, butterflies and moths. Otters. Seals and dolphins offshore. There is a cafe, car park, boardwalk and a bird hide. It can be crowded on the beach in summer. Take A4118 from Swansea. After ten miles, turn left at Nicholaston church. Fee for car parking. Click on the P in the map to get directions. Boat trips run from Oxwich to Worm's Head further west.
