Description
Talybont Reservoir has two bird hides, car parking, and a nice cafe in the village. Shallow water, marshland and exposed mud at the top end attract dabbling ducks, waders especially Слуква лісова, Баранець звичайний, Баранець малий, Чапля сіра, Мала біла чапля and Пастушок in autumn and winter. The woods have Мухоловка строката, Канюк звичайний, Сіра сова, Повзик звичайний, Підкоришник звичайний and Дрімлюга звичайний. In the surrounding streams look for Плиска гірська, Пронурок біловолий and Трав'янка чорноголова. And on the moors may be Кульон великий, Сивка звичайна, Куріпка біла, Крук звичайний, Щеврик лучний and Кам’янка звичайна . The nearby canal has Рибалочка блакитний.

Access
Between Brecon and Abergavenny. Take the B4558 and turn south in Talybont village. A regular bus service runs through the village, from which it's a 2 mile walk to the reservoir. The circular route up to Tor y Foel is 5 km, with 250 metres of ascent. Stout boots, a hiking pole, snacks, a drink and waterproof clothing are recommended.
