Description
Jerup Strand comprises a flat sandy beach with a single line of dunes, marshland and grazed meadows. It is situated on the shore of the Kattegat north of Frederikshavn. Several species of wader breed in the area, including Poyrazkuşu, Halkalı cılıbıt, Kızılbacak and now and again Kılıçgaga.
Jerup is a stopover site for several duck species, including Fiyu and Çamurcun. During migrating season other birds arrive, including Tarakdiş, Suna, Altın yağmurcun, Gümüş yağmurcun, Karakarınlı kumkuşu, Kızkuşu, Büyük kumkuşu, Kervançulluğu and Küçük kumkuşu. Now and again, flocks of Yosun kazi and Akyanaklý kaz and a few Küçük Tarla Kazı stage on the meadows. Boz kaz can be seen throughout the year.
In winter there are flocks of Ak kumkuşu running along the sea’s edge, and one can be lucky enough to spot a Kır baykuşu over the meadows. Paçalı şahin and Gökçe delice can also be seen flying over the meadows, together with flocks of Sarıgagalı ketenkuşu and Alaca kirazkuşu. Small flocks of Kulaklı toygar and a few Mahmuzlu kirazkuşu appear now and then. Gök doðan is a regular visitor.
