Description
The central part of this area is the Kumisi reservoir where many ducks, grebes and other waterfowl can be found during any time of the year. In spring, many Kır kırlangıcı and Kum kırlangıcı can be seen hawking over the reedbeds and water. Pasbaş Patka is sometimes seen here in autumn. On the Southwest edge of the reservoir there are some wet pastures where Sığır balıkçılı and Leylek can be seen foraging. Kaya serçesi breeds in the abandoned buildings in the immediate surroundings and Bıyıklı Kamışçın in the reedbeds surrounding the lake.
During winter Karagerdanlý dalgýç and groups of up to 70 Büyük karabaş martı winter here. On the Northern shore there have been multiple records of ak kuyruklu kızkuşu and there was a record of Pasifik incirkuşu some years ago in winter.

Access
Kumisi Lake is located about 22 km south of Tbilisi and can be reached by a 30-minute drive from Tbilisi. Drive either through Krtsanisi or Mtisdziri on the East side of the lake. Though this road is not in very good condition it should be possible with most non 4x4 vehicles. Another option is to drive from Kumisi/Koda, but a 4x4 is needed.
