Description

Vachiani Lake is one of dozens of lakes on the Javakheti Plateau, but is significant for birdwatching because many species can be seen here at short range. Ak pelikan and Tepeli pelikan forage here regularly in small numbers. Above the water Akkanatlı sumru and Bıyıklı Sumru forage together.

During spring many migrant waders like Döşüşkenkuş, Küçük kumkuşu and Orman düdükçünü, pipits and wagtails (Kızılgerdanlı incirkuşu, Sarıbağlı kuyruksallayan , Black-headed wagtail and Grey-headed Wagtail (thunbergi)) can be seen on the West side of the lake (1 on the map). If you're lucky you can see Bataklık düdükçünü or Deniz düdükçünü here. Kızılboyunlu batağan breed close to shore (2 on the map).
