Description
Fahrlander (Fahrländer) See is a rewarding birding area, especially from spring to late autumn. On the western shore, a dike path runs alongside a wide belt of reeds, offering the opportunity to observe a large number of species – a sight unparalleled in both its quantity and diversity in the Potsdam area. During migration seasons, surprising birdwatching opportunities are regularly available. Ample parking is provided, and a path of about 45 minutes is easily walkable.
On the northern shore (which lacks direct parking), a small hill (near the signposted center of Brandenburg) can be climbed, offering a view of almost the entire lake with a spotting scope. Birds that can be observed regularly and reliably include Mavigerdan, Bıyıklı baştankara, Bataklık kirazkuşu, Kındıra kamışçını, Bataklık Kamışçını, Saz Kamışçını, Büyük kamışçın, Gökçe güvercin, Yalıçapkını, Kızkuşu, Guguk, Balık kartalı, Kara çaylak, Kızıl Çaylak and Akkuyruklu kartal.
During migration seasons, in addition to a large number of different goose species, there is also a good chance of seeing Döşüşkenkuş, Yeşil düdükçün, Küçük halkalı cılıbıt, Su çulluğu Küçük martı, Kara sumru and Akkanatlı sumru.
