Description

The camp is located on the Ewaso Nyiro river in a mixture of palm groves and riverine forest. The river itself is very seasonal and is very low in dry season and very high in rainy season. One of the special things here is spotting the African Hoopoe nesting in the bank opposite. Another special feature is that they have a photo hide beside a waterhole.

Down by the river you can see Grey-headed Kingfisher, Lilac-breasted Roller , Common Sandpiper, White-browed Sparrow-Weaver, Yellow-billed Stork and African Pied Wagtail. And in the trees you can find D'Arnaud's Barbet, Fork-tailed Drongo, Verreaux's Eagle-Owl, African Black-headed Oriole, Black-bellied Sunbird, Hunter's Sunbird, Cardinal Woodpecker and Pearl-spotted Owlet.

And lastly when exploring the grassland behind the lodge on a game drive you can spot Kori Bustard, White-throated Bee-eater, Slate-colored Boubou, Black-capped Social-Weaver, Mourning Collared Dove, Tawny Eagle, African Crowned Eagle, Crested Francolin , Helmeted Guineafowl, Vulturine Guineafowl, Spotted Thick-knee, Hooded Vulture, White-headed Vulture and many other birds.

You will also see a lot of wildlife including the special Kenya Northern five which are the Somali Ostrich, Reticulated giraffe, Grevy's zebra, the Beisa oryx and the Gerenuk.
