Description
The Bradwell Shell Bank is a nature reserve of 12 hectares. A visit at high tide (see link to tides table below) in autumn and winter will reward you with views of up to 20,000 waders roosting and creating murmurations in the sky. This saltmarsh is a habitat for a wide variety of birds, from Sarý kuyruksallayan to Tarlakuşu. During the summer months waders such as Poyrazkuşu and Halkalı cılıbıt will breed along the shellbanks, so please keep to the seawall to avoid disturbance and watch them raise their young from afar.
The mud and sandflats to the east are part of the Dengie National Nature Reserve, an internationally important site for overwintering waders especially Gümüş yağmurcun, Büyük kumkuşu and Kıyı çamurçulluğu. Winter often brings Gökçe delice and Kır baykuşu.

Bradwell Shell Bank Nature Reserve is located on East End Road, Bradwell on Sea. The area has a free parking. Click on the P in the map to get directions. No access onto the saltmarsh, please keep to the footpath along the seawall.
