Description
Cardiff Bay is good for birds all year round. Residents include Tasçeviren, Kara kızılkuyruk, kaya incirkuşu and Büyük tarakdiş. The first can be seen on the green walkways in groups, whilst the rest can be seen basking on the rocky edges.
Kum kırlangıcı, Ev kırlangıcı and Ebabil can all be seen in summer. Ev kırlangıcı nest in ready-made boxes under the eaves of houses by the roundabout barrage entrance. Kum kırlangıcı nest in the walls of the bay.
Poyrazkuşu can be seen on the barrage all year round, as well as Kızılbacak. Florya is another resident around the bay. When the tide goes out, many species, such as Suna can be seen feeding.
Winter visitors include Küçük martı. However, check sightings before going as they tend to move around a lot. Finally, rarities include Karaboyunlu batağan Karaboyunlu bataðan, Telkuyruk and Halkalı Patka.

Easy accessible from Cardiff. Plenty of parking areas available. Click on a P in the map for directions. Walking is possible from Penarth to Barrage. Walking is the best way to explore the area.
