Description

Merkinch is an area of tidal pools and mudflats, reedbeds, ponds, saltmarsh and scrub. Birds seen include Altıngöz, Pufla, all three diver species, Telkuyruk, Kulaklı batağan, Usturagaga, Derekuşu, kaya incirkuşu, Karabaşlı iskete, Dağ ispinozu, Koca Başlı Çaprazgaga, Çekirge Kamışçını, Balık kartalı and Atmaca.

Access

Merkinch is the NW suburb of Inverness. Follow Thornbush road/Kessock road to the terminus where parking is available. Regular bus service.
