Description
The reservoir is shallow, having only a maximum depth of 9m (30’), which makes it very attractive to both dabbling and diving ducks. It occasionally attracts less common wildfowl, such as Büyük tarakdiş and Kara ördek and Kızılboyunlu batağan, Karaboyunlu batağan Karaboyunlu bataðan and Kulaklı batağan. Waders are often present in spring and autumn, including Döşüşkenkuş, Yeşil düdükçün, Su çulluğu, Kızılbacak, Poyrazkuşu and Küçük halkalı cılıbıt. Scaling Dam can also be an excellent place to watch raptors and, from the hide, an eye should always be kept on the moorland plateau and valleys for Gökçe delice, Saz delicesi, Boz doğan and Gök doðan and, if you are extremely lucky, Kızıl Çaylak or Paçalı şahin. The site is also good for summer visitors, such as Guguk, Çayır taşkuşu and Söğütbülbülü, and residents like Taşkuşu, Dağ kuyruksallayanı and Ağaç serçesi.
There is a hide for birdwatching where you might see Kızkuşu, Boz kaz, Kanada Kazı, Ötücü kuğu and many wading birds.
