From November to April it is a refuge for tens of thousands of wetland birds. Target species in winter: White-headed Duck, Gull-billed Tern, Lesser Short-toed Lark, Greater Flamingo, Pallas's Gull and Red-throated Pipit. In summer: Marbled Teal and Lesser Short-toed Lark. The area is most interesting during spring and late autumn/winter.
