Description

Etangs de Neerpede serves as a storm basin by collecting water in case of floods in the Neerpedebeek. It was cleaned up in 2009, allowing the resettlement of aquatic flora and fauna linked to these calm and relatively shallow waters. An artificial island has been built, in particular to attract certain birds, including the Little Ringed Plover , protected from certain predators and disturbances related to public attendance. Among the birds you can see here are Common Pochard, Tufted Duck, Little Grebe, Great Crested Grebe, Common Kingfisher, Rose-ringed Parakeet, Marsh Tit, Marsh Warbler, Reed Warbler, Eurasian Nuthatch, Grey Wagtail, White Wagtail and Common Chaffinch.
