Description

Étangs de Saint-Denis is a mix of private fishing and free ponds. It is marked out by paths. There is small streams where Common Kingfisher may be observed. There are 3 public ponds where there is a lot of Mallard but also other better wintering birds like Common Pochard and Common Teal, etc. There is a small reed bed as well and some dead trees in the principal pond hosting many Great Cormorant. Among the forest birds that can be seen are Middle Spotted Woodpecker, Crested Tit and Goldcrest.

Français : Le site est un mélange d'étangs de pêche privés et d'autres libres. Il est tracé par des sentiers. Il y a des petits ruisseaux où l'on peut observer un Common Kingfisher, 3 étangs publics où l'on trouve beaucoup de Mallard mais aussi d'autres oiseaux hivernants plus sympathiques comme le Common Pochard, la Common Teal, etc. Il y a également une petite roselière et quelques arbres morts dans l'étang principal accueillant de nombreux Great Cormorant. Situés dans le bois on peut y observer des oiseaux plus forestiers: Middle Spotted Woodpecker, Crested Tit, Goldcrest.

Access

You have to park at the edge of the wood (several possible locations) and enter on foot. Bicycles are a very good solution but it is better to leave them outside the "entrance" to the ponds because the paths are narrow and often muddy.

Français : Il faut se garer en bordure du bois (plusieurs endroits possibles) et y entrer à pied. Le vélo est une très bonne solution mais il vaut mieux le laisser à l'extérieur de "l'entrée" des étangs parce que les sentiers sont étroits et souvent boueux.
