Description
The Hegte Heyde consists of a heathland landscape, which is rare in the Kempen. It is a small nature reserve and is part of the larger Molenbos forest. The area is less than ten hectares in size, but ecologically valuable. The soil consists of poor, sandy soils that are suitable for heathland grasslands. The landscape consists of a mosaic of grasslands and copses. Near the Hegte Heyde you can walk into the woods around the Trappist abbey. Very quiet area.

Nederlands: De Hegte Heyde bestaat uit een heischraal landschap, dat nog weinig voorkomt in de Kempen. Het is een klein natuurgebied en maakt deel uit van het grotere Molenbos. Het gebied is minder dan tien hectare groot, maar ecologisch waardevol. De bodem bestaat uit arme, zanderige gronden die geschikt zijn voor heischrale graslanden. Het landschap bestaat uit een mozaïek van graslanden en bosjes. In de buurt van de Hegte Heyde wandel je de bossen in rond de abdij van de Trappisten. Zeer rustig gebied.

The Hegte Heyde is located near Malle. The area is freely accessible via the trails. The trailhead is located on Oude Liersebaan, behind the hospital in Malle. Press P on the map for directions to a parking spot. The circular walk shown on the map is approximately 6 km.
