Description

Maaswinkel is a nature reserve of 280 hectares near Maasmechelen. The area is located in a flood plain and has been given its current form by the activities of a former brick factory. Clay pits have been dug in the area, creating a varied landscape. It is an overgrown area with lush green en several ponds. You can hear an abundance of songbirds all singing together. One of the few places nowadays with Common Nightingale.

Possibility for parking at the canal Zuid-Willemsvaart (see the P on the map). From there you can explore the area on foot. A circular walk of 4 km is shown on the map.
