Description

Réserve de l'Escaille is located in an urban area at the confluence of the Orneau and Rabaudy rivers. The reserve was established around a former sugar refinery, A true oasis of biological diversity surrounded by intensive agriculture. Many birds visit the reserve or breed there. Nearly two hundred species of birds have already been recorded at L'Escaille. An observatory invites you to discover them at any time of the day or night. Among the birds you can encounter are Common Kingfisher, Little Grebe, Common Teal, Peregrine Falcon, Long-tailed Tit, Reed Warbler, Marsh Warbler, Blackcap, Garden Warbler and Eurasian Nuthatch.

Français: Réserve de l'Escaille - ancien moulin avec étendues d'eau. Rivière, étang, bosquets. Établi autour d’un ancien décanteur de sucrerie, le site a initialement été protégé en tant que relais migratoire privilégié pour les oiseaux d'eau. Aujourd’hui, il profite surtout aux oiseaux nicheurs comme les grèbes huppés et castagneux, ou encore le martin-pêcheur. Près de deux-cents espèces d'oiseaux ont déjà recensées à l’Escaille ! Un observatoire invite à les découvrir à toute heure du jour et de la nuit.
