Description

Aarslev Engsø used to be a drained area and was re-established in 2003 by directing the water from the two rivers Aarhus Å and Lyngbygård Å over its meadows. The lake itself now covers an area of 100 hectares and is surrounded by meadows and reedbeds. Among the birds you can encounter are White-tailed Eagle, Osprey, Peregrine Falcon, Great Egret, Bluethroat, Bearded Tit, Gadwall and Garganey. Aarslev Engsø also attracts many uncommon birds that turn up regularly, for example Little Gull, Mediterranean Gull, Black Tern, Caspian Tern, Spotted Crake, Broad-billed Sandpiper, Red-necked Phalarope and Great Reed Warbler.
