Description

In 1999, this 83-hectare wetland was recreated in Holløse Bredning. Due to a nature restoration project half of the area became a shallow lake. The remaining area consists of grazed meadows. The wetland was created by throwing in ditches and stopping the pumps that artificially drained the area. The Great Cormorant moved into the willow thickets at the lake. At one point there were over 1000 nests. Inside the colony, several Grey Heron nest. A number of other birds are also attracted to the place. The Penduline Tit breeds in the branches of the willow trees, the White-tailed Eagle occasionally hunts across the lake. Many geese, ducks and other birds are heard everywhere in the summer months.

Access

You can park at the car park at Tibirke Kirke (Tibirke Church). You will find the bird hide by following the path from the car parks at Tibirke Kirke. It is a walk of about 1.3 km. The walk to the bird hide runs through grassy meadows, bog and reedbeds. The hide is built on an old pump house. Also a bird observation platform has been built, which is accessible to people with disabilities. You can park at a small parking lot at Ellemosevej. A non-slip ramp and a gravelled dirt road from a nearby parking lot allow wheelchair users and people with walking difficulties to experience the views from the platform. Click on a P in the map to get directions to the parking of your choice.
