Very good for spring migration (raptors and many other species). A nice place for watching sea birds in autumn.
Open heathland by the coast. One of the best places to find relativly rare birds on Zealand. Korshage is best known for its spring migration, especially with winds from the east and south-east. However, in autumn there is a chance of seeing many species of seabirds which are driven into the Kattegat during the autumn storms, for example Northern Fulmar, shearwaters, Northern Gannet and skuas.
A large number of different bird species fly out over Korshage on spring migration. Many raptors are seen, for example European Honey-buzzard, Red Kite, White-tailed Eagle, Western Marsh Harrier, Hen Harrier, Eurasian Goshawk, Sparrowhawk, Common Buzzard, Rough-legged Buzzard, Osprey, Merlin and Eurasian Hobby. Common Crane also pass overhead. Nearly 1000 have been seen on a single day. Some bird species migrate in enormous concentrations, for example pigeons: numbers of up to 15,000 Common Wood Pigeon per day are not unusual. Some Stock Dove can be seen in the flocks. Crows and thrushes are also seen in large numbers, and Common Chaffinch and Brambling can form large flocks. Other migrating birds include Short-eared Owl and Ring Ouzel. Eurasian Wryneck can be spotted staging here under migration. Along the coast, geese and various dabbling ducks and diving ducks fly past. Also Red-backed Shrike breed on the open areas at Korshage.
Drive towards to NE corner of Odsherred - you can mis to parking place. Walk along the coast if you are looking for migrating bird. Normally daily watching by local birders (on good day). More information on the website Rørvigfuglestation https://rfst.dk/wiki/doku.php
