A very good location to see White-tailed Eagle. Only one hour from Copenhagen, with good numbers of ducks, geese and other waterbirds.

Description

Tissø is the 4th largest freshwater lake in Denmark. It is easy to acces and overlook. Tissø is home to a rich and varied birdlife and White-tailed Eagle breeds here and it is easy to see. Also Osprey can be seen. On the lake itself Great Crested Grebe, Goosander, various dabbling and diving ducks, geese and Eurasian Coot are usual residents. The beach meadows and reed beds house many foraging and breeding birds like Avocet, Little Tern, Reed Bunting, Western Marsh Harrier in addition to Great Bittern, Bearded Tit, Penduline Tit and Grasshopper Warbler.

Access

Almost all of the lakeside is on private hands, but there is a publicly accessible birdwatching tower near Fugledegård. Click on the P in the map to get directions to the parking. From there it's a 500 meter walk to the observation tower.
