Description

Skatanniemi provides a wide view of the sea. It's a great place for watching bird migration with a telescope, especially during the migration of arctic birds. Shore birds occasionally stop by the shore and waterfowl can be observed with and without telescope and binoculars. There are some trees and foliage around the area too and birders have spotted birds like Crested Tit among them. The tip is quite impressive as a place too due to the spectacular view of the ocean but also because the tip is on top of huge rocks.

Access

Skatanniemi is surprisingly hard to find if you don't know what you're looking for. A road leads all the way to the rocky tip but as it goes between houses it's easy to expect it to end on a private property. However, the road and the tip itself are public places and as you keep on walking along the road you'll eventually end up by the tip. It's also possible to cycle to the tip's entrance. Closest parking places are by the Uutela communal gardens.
