Ballastière de Bischheim is a former gravel and sand extraction site that is transformed into a natural reserve and recreational area. In winter, it is easy to observe many Tufted Duck and Common Pochard. There are also many Black-headed Gull and Yellow-legged Gull. In summer, there are only Mute Swan, Eurasian Coot and Great Crested Grebe and a few Little Grebe.

Ballastière de Bischheim is a former gravel and sand extraction site located in Bischheim near Strasbourg. It's quite far from the tram stop, so it's better to take the car or a bicycle. There's a large parking lot. Press P on the map for directions to the parking lot. The circular walk around the lake is approximately 2 km.
