Description

La Rincerie is a pond with shallow depths, gentle slopes on the outskirts and quite dense riverine vegetation (willow grove) around the periphery of the pond. More than 230 species of birds have been observed there.

Spring and summer are not the best times for birding on this site, although local nesters are present there, disturbance is frequent due to leisure activities (wakeboarding, sailing, windsurfing, kayak, paddle, fishing, swimming). Despite this, this site has plenty of surprises in store for local bird watchers!

Prefer regular passages in the fall to follow postnuptial migrants stopping over the site and its surroundings. Depending on the waterlevel shorebirds (Dunlin, Ruff, Spotted Redshank) and waders (Eurasian Spoonbill, White Stork, Black-winged Stilt) are frequent here. Three species of tern: Whiskered Tern, Black Tern and White-winged Ternhave already been observed here. Many geese have been seen here also: Brent Goose, Barnacle Goose, Greylag Goose, Greater White-fronted Goose, Taiga Bean Goose. The sparrows also stop there to stock up on fat before resuming their journey to hot regions, keep a close eye on the riverine forests and bushes.

In winter, anatidae and laridae are frequent: for the rarest we note the Blue-winged Teal, the Ferruginous Duck, the Greater Scaup, the Iceland Gull, the Caspian Gull and the Caspian Tern. Watch for the pond and nearby meadows perhaps you will have the chance to see the Short-eared Owl.
