Étang de Saclay is a small lake nearby a military training camp. Rare birds can show up here during migration.

Description

The Étang de Saclay area is well known amongst local ornithologists. It is one of the best parisian birding spots. During the migration seasons, you may be able to see Red-crested Pochard, Common Pochard, Tufted Duck, Common Snipe and Little Grebe. Some rarities show up every now and then, like Greater Scaup, Little Bittern and Eurasian Spoonbill. In the forest, the raptors nest. You can see them flying above the lake: Eurasian Kestrel, Eurasian Hobby, Peregrine Falcon and, in summer Osprey.

Access

You can park on the bridge and observe the birds from there. With the autorisation of the military training camp and the city hall you may have access to the observatory, open on sunday.
