Description

Étangs d'Outines are a string of 3 flat-bottomed and shallow fish ponds (1m on average). The ponds are surrounded by a mosaic of diverse environments dominated by meadows, willow groves and the wooded area. Many birds can be seen here. For example Common Crane, Little Bittern, Purple Heron, Black-crowned Night Heron, Little Egret, Water Rail, Marsh Warbler, Reed Warbler, Reed Bunting, Common Pochard, Northern Shoveler and Tufted Duck. Three observatories, accessible to the public, allow to observe the fauna present while preserving their serenity. One is located south of the Landres Pond, while the other two are located on the edge of the Grand Coulon (one to the east, the other to the south) offering different views. Other birds that can be seen here are: Greater White-fronted Goose, Taiga Bean Goose, Mute Swan, Bewick's Swan, Garganey, Eurasian Wigeon, Northern Pintail, Common Teal, Red-crested Pochard, Common Goldeneye, Goosander, Grey Partridge, Little Grebe, Great Crested Grebe, European Turtle Dove, Common Cuckoo, Common Swift ,Corn Crake, Northern Lapwing, Eurasian Curlew, Black-tailed Godwit, Dunlin, Black-headed Gull, Common Gull, Black Stork, White Stork and Great Cormorant.

Français: Créés au Moyen-Age par les moines cisterciens, les étangs des Landres, du Grand Coulon et de la Forêt constituent un chapelet de 3 étangs piscicoles à fond plat et de faible profondeur (1m en moyenne). Ainsi, de nombreux Ardéidés peuvent y être observés en période de nidification comme le Héron pourpré, le Bihoreau gris ou encore l'Aigrette garzette. D'autres espèces d'oiseaux viennent rechercher la tranquillité des étangs pour nicher comme les passereaux paludicoles (rousseroles, locustelles, Bruants des roseaux, etc.) ou encore de nombreux anatidés (Canards chipeaux et souchets, fuligules, etc.) et rallidés comme le Râle d'eau. Trois observatoires, accessibles au public, permettent d'observer la faune présente tout en préservant leur sérénité. L'un d'entre eux est situé au sud de l'étang des Landres tandis que les deux autres sont situés en bordure du Grand Coulon (un à l'est, l'autre au sud) offrant ainsi des points de vue différents. L'étang de la Forêt constitue quant à lui une zone de quiétude permanente pour la faune et est de ce fait totalement interdit d'accès.

Access

The nature reserve is located right in front of the Site de Chantecoq. On the D13 coming from Arrigny towards Giffaumont one comes to a roundabout. Site de Chantecoq is indicated on the left and Der Natur en Etang Outines Arrigny on the right. If you turn right at the roundabout, there is a car park immediately on the left. Click on the P in the map to get directions. Here a nice walk to the Etangs d'Outines Arrigny starts (7 km, see the map).

Français: La réserve naturelle est située juste en face du site de Chantecoq. Sur la D13 venant d'Arrigny vers Giffaumont on arrive à un rond-point. Le site de Chantecoq est indiqué à gauche et Der Nature et Etangs Outines Arrigny à droite. Si vous tournez à droite au rond-point, il y a un parking immédiatement sur la gauche. Cliquez sur le P sur la carte pour obtenir les directions. Ici commence une belle promenade vers les Etangs d'Outines Arrigny (7 km. Voir le plan).
