La Côte de Granit Rose

Brittany  >  France

Beautiful area with a great diversity of birds, unfortunately with a lot of tourist during summer but worth a detour.

Description

This spectacular place is perfect to enjoy the landscape and birdwatching at the same time. There are several birdwatching spots along the ‘Sentier des Douaniers’ (GR34). In this unique pink granite atmosphere, you could see hidden, among the 300 million years old strange shaped rocks, many species such as Sand Martin, Eurasian Oystercatcher, Purple Sandpiper, European Stonechat. On the sea, you could see near the shore some Northern Gannet, Common Guillemot, Razorbill, Great Northern Diver, Mediterranean Gull and Herring Gull.

If you are lucky, you might see some mammals such as Grey Seal, Dolphins, or even Sharks.

Extra info

I would advise to avoid going there during summer because there are quite a lot of tourists. There is not a lot of public transport, so it is better to take a car.
