Description

L'Étang de la Morinière is a site with an important potential for Anatidae (Mallard, Northern Shoveler, Common Teal, Eurasian Wigeon, Tufted Duck) and other water birds (Goosander, Great Crested Grebe, Eurasian Coot. During the drainage of the pond, several species of shorebirds were also observed on the mudflats (Dunlin, Little Stint, Black-tailed Godwit) The vegetation on the banks of the pond welcome a few pairs of Reed Warbler in spring and allow Common Snipe to take shelter at the foot in winter. Note the formation of a larid dormitory in winter with the regular presence of Black-headed Gull, Mediterranean Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull, etc, and which occasionally hosted Little Gull, Common Gull.

Access

On the D27, leaving Saint-Dnis d'Anjou in the direction of Miré, turn right towards the place called `` la Morinière '', after 700m you will reach an intersection, turn right to head towards the outskirts of the pond, where you will park on the south bank along the dike. You can walk around the body of water on the footpath but in this case you will surely make some birds fly away at rest on the banks of the site. If possible observe from the dike or the observatory with a telescope to avoid disturbing the birds.
