Description

The Cambrin Marsh Nature Reserve is located in the alluvial floodable valley of the Lys plain, in the heart of the Beuvry, Cuinchy and Festubert marshes. The wetland is a mosaic of natural environments and is remarkable for the avifauna. The marsh represents an ideal nesting place for many birds and an interesting migratory stop and a wintering area. Among the birds you can see here are Greylag Goose, Mute Swan, Common Shelduck, , Northern Pintail, Common Teal, Common Pochard, Tufted Duck, Great Crested Grebe, Black-necked Grebe, Little Grebe, Common Wood Pigeon, Eurasian Collared Dove, Common Cuckoo, Water Rail, Great Cormorant, Great Bittern, Little Bittern, Grey Heron, Great Egret, Western Marsh Harrier, Common Kingfisher, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Eurasian Green Woodpecker, Eurasian Kestrel and Eurasian Hobby.

Français: La réserve naturelle du marais de Cambrin s’étend sur plus de 74 hectares sur la commune de Cambrin, entre Lille et Béthune. Cette zone humide se situe dans la vallée alluviale inondable de la plaine de la Lys, au cœur des marais de Beuvry, Cuinchy et Festubert. Mosaïque de milieux naturels, ce site d’un grand intérêt paysager et écologique est une zone humide d’importance régionale. Véritable cœur de nature, elle joue un rôle important dans la préservation de la ressource en eau et constitue un refuge de qualité pour tout un cortège de plantes et d’animaux. Trés beau marais avec chemin aménagé.

Access

Visit of the site on foot. Access by the D941 between Béthune and La Bassée, about 10 km from Béthune to Cambrin, follow signs for the marsh. There is a 1.5 km marked walking trail, without difficulty, open all year round.
