Description

Réserve de Saint Samson is covering more than a hundred hectares in the heart of the Dives marshes. From November 15 to April 15, 70-80% of the site's surface is watered. Across the entire flooded surface, the water slide varies from a few centimetres to a maximum of 40 cm. The rest of the year, the reserve is dry allowing maintenance by mowing and grazing. The reserve is an important wintering and stopover for birds in Normandy. You can observe the birds from the observatory located at the water's edge. You can mainly observe ducks and shorebirds such as: Common Teal, Eurasian Wigeon, Northern Shoveler, Northern Pintail, Black-tailed Godwit, Eurasian Spoonbill, Great Egret, Little Egret, White Stork, Little Grebe, Osprey, Short-eared Owl and Little Ringed Plover. And many more, see the birdlist below.
