Description

Réserve Ornithologique du Gros Banc is a coastal reserve in the bay of the Orne. A sandy-muddy are. You can walk around the reserve or visit the bird hide. The majority of the birds are passage migrants. Among the many birds you can see here are: Common Shelduck, Garganey, Northern Pintail, Goosander, Little Grebe, European Turtle Dove, Common Cuckoo, Water Rail, Avocet, Grey Plover, European Golden Plover, Kentish Plover, Common Ringed Plover, Dotterel, Whimbrel, Eurasian Curlew, Bar-tailed Godwit, Red Knot, Sanderling, Dunlin, Common Snipe, Wood Sandpiper, Mediterranean Gull, Little Tern, Sandwich Tern, White Stork, Great Bittern, Little Egret, Glossy Ibis, Eurasian Spoonbill, Osprey, Western Marsh Harrier, Tawny Owl, Short-eared Owl, Common Kingfisher, Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, Eurasian Green Woodpecker, Black Woodpecker, Eurasian Hobby, Peregrine Falcon, Red-backed Shrike, Eurasian Skylark, Bearded Tit, Whinchat, Northern Wheatear, Grey Wagtail, Tree Pipit and Rock Pipit.

La liste édité par mais soins n'est pas exhaustive des manquements d'espèces et peut-être des erreurs peuvent apparaître dans ma liste. La majorité des oiseaux quand ils sont présent sont en migrations de passages et quelques espéces niches sur le gros banc en compagnie des moutons.

Access

The reserve is located between 2 coastal villages. There is a visitor center near the village of Sallenelles. A nice walking trail runs around the estuary (3 km). Perhaps you come across seals. There is also a bird hide close to the parking. Click on the P in the map to get directions.
