Description

Bughdasheni Lake is a relatively small lake south of the village of Gorelovka at the mouth of the Zagranichnaia River. Like the other lakes in the Javakheti region, the lake is located on a plateau. The lake is situated at an elevation of approximately 2,000 meters, resulting in a vast and sparsely vegetated landscape. Extensive agriculture is practiced around the lake.

In spring several water birds can be expected such as: Armenermåke, Hvitpelikan, Krøllpelikan, Bronseibis, Trane, Gråstrupedykker, Svarthalsdykker and Purpurhegre. There is also an island where Natthegre and a breeding colony of Storskarv are present. In addition, several Kaie (soemmerringii) are present on dung heaps near the village of Gorelovka. The Stork is well represented in the area around the lake as a breeding bird. In spring there is a chance of seeing Black-headed wagtail, Sitronerle and Lappiplerke directly around the lake. The plains surrounding the lake are full of Kornspurv en Sanglerke.
