Description

You will reach the monument on your drive from Tblisi to Kazbegi, a few kilometers before the Jvari pass. It is a tourist attraction with car park and people selling food and memorabilia. There is a large observation platform and a smaller one near the car park. Look up for migrating birds like European Honey-buzzard, Levant Sparrowhawk, Black Kite or local Golden Eagle, Alpine Swift or Common Raven. On the rocks below you can see species like Red-billed Chough, Yellow-billed Chough, Alpine Accentor, Wallcreeper and Ring Ouzel. Check the grassland for Water Pipit and Red-fronted Serin.
