Description

Auesee Wesel is a lake that is mainly interesting in the winter to watch migrating waterfowl as well as to take a look at the birding island during breeding season. Rare and not so common ducks can sometimes be observed here, such as Greater Scaup, Ferruginous Duck, Common Eider, Velvet Scoter or Common Goldeneye. It's proximity to the Rhine river is a magnet for these migrating birds. There is a bird island, where birds like Grey Heron, Common Tern and Great Cormorant breed and you can watch it from an observation point. Around the lake there are trees and woodlands with the birds, you can expect in such a habitat.
