The Bingenheimer Ried is embedded in the Wetterau floodplain network, which is the largest landscape protection area (LSG) in Hessen.

Description

The Bingenheimer Ried is an important marsh and wetland area and an important migration and resting area for migratory birds and winter guests. It is also home to rare breeding birds such as Northern Lapwing, Common Snipe and Northern Pintail. The reed is also a particularly suitable habitat for Bluethroat, Reed Bunting, Sedge Warbler and Great Reed Warbler and other animals such as amphibians or dragonflies. Arriving by car or train. Signposted parking lot in Bingenheim. There are two bird hides. One to the east and one to the west.

To protect the common garlic toad and the like, an amphibian fence was set up along the road so that the amphibians can wander between Pfaffensee and Ried without being run over.
