Description

East of Mahlsdorf, the Erpe, an offshoot of the river Spree, meanders through the forest and meadow landscape close to the city. The Erpetal nature reserve is an area with many different habitats. There are woodlands, there is a small river, and there is a little lake. The area is really big, so different birds find their home there. You can encounter birds like Common Kingfisher, Greylag Goose, Tawny Owl, Eurasian Moorhen, Long-tailed Tit, European Goldfinch, Greenfinch, Eurasian Siskin, Short-toed Treecreeper, Black Woodpecker and Great Spotted Woodpecker.
