Description

Gundelfinger Moos is the remainder of a river valley moor in the Donauried. The area has moist forests, meadows and floodplains where you can find a large number of rare species of plants and birds. The core area of the moor consists of largely open wet meadows grazed with Exmoor ponies with a mosaic of peat cuttings. The edge areas of the moor, are used agriculturally as grassland. You can enjoy the birds from the paths and the observation tower. Among the birds you can see here are Common Snipe, Ruff, Eurasian Curlew, Common Greenshank, Little Ringed Plover, Red Kite, Eurasian Skylark, Sand Martin, Grasshopper Warbler, European Stonechat, Whinchat, Yellowhammer, Reed Bunting, Red-backed Shrike and in winter Great Grey Shrike.
