Description

The Gymnicher Mühle is an old water mill on the river Erft. Today it houses a nature park center and is a popular destination for families, especially in summer with its 1.5 hectare water adventure park. The surrounding area is interesting for birding. The Gymnicher Mühle area is characterized by different habitats. There is a former gravel pit, open meadow areas and semi-open bushland. But there is also a lot to see along the river Kleinen Erft. Among the birds you can see in the area are Common Nightingale, Icterine Warbler, Marsh Warbler, Black Kite and European Stonechat.

Access

There is a large parking lot at the nature center. Click on the P in the map to get directions. Unfortunately, it sometime happens that Google Maps suggests a non-navigable route. Therefore, please check the route in advance. You can reach the nature center via the L162 and then via the street named Gymnicher Mühle.

You can explore the direct surroundings of the nature center or walk the 6 km signposted circular walk Neue Erft & Alte Gemäuer which runs through the area (see the map).
