Description

Since 2017 a nesting box for the Eagle Owl has been placed in the cloister. Six weeks after hatching, the young animals, which are still unable to fly, jump out of the nest box and are initially on foot as "infantrymen". The cloister at the Mariendom in Hildesheim offers them special protection during this phase. Adults can be seen and heard in the evening on the Hildesheimer Dom.
