Description

Jungferweiher combines several habitats. The maar with its reed beds, meadows and grassy areas, and the surrrounding woods. A path (approx. 3 km) encircles the maar, so all habitats are accessible. There is a bird viewing screen on the west side of the maar. Birds can be seen year-round and various types of ducks winter here. A campground on the western edge gives easy access to the entire area. Among the birds you can encounter are Northern Shoveler, Common Teal, Common Pochard, Little Grebe, Great Crested Grebe, Great Bittern, Water Rail, Common Snipe, Common Sandpiper and Common Kingfisher.
