Lake located in a nature reserve of 74 hectares. The lake is surrounded by forest and grasslands.
The Lanstroper See nature reserve covers 74.2 hectares. The eight hectare lake is five meters deep at its deepest point and is bordered by a narrow belt of reeds. Another part of the nature reserve is the forest Hienbergwald west of the lake. This deciduous forest, together with the lake provides a habitat and breeding area for numerous species of birds. Among the birds you can see in the area are Black-headed Gull, Greylag Goose, Greater Whitethroat, Reed Warbler, Mute Swan, Tufted Duck, Little Grebe, Water Rail and Reed Bunting.
Parking is available in the adjacent residential area. Click on the P in the map to get directions. There is a hiking trail along a part of the lake and also through the fields to the Lanstroper Egg. The trail along the lake has some display boards and a viewing platform directly on the water. To do a circular trail (3,5 km) you also have to walk a few parts on roads.
